During sexuality education with boys, you should remember that “The be a Man Code” may have influence on them. It is important that you understand how the “be a man code “affects acceptance of sexuality education by boys. 

 

Boys need same information on sexuality education as girls do, behind all we need a basic understanding of how boys are taught to be men the “Be a man code” this affects, how males view the world of sex, and relationships, as well as how the males process information. 

 

The rules of “the be a man code”are not written out anywhere; rather, they are ideas of Boys particularly in traditional societies should grow to learn that:

• Boys should not display weakness in any form they should be strong, stoic, stable, resilient, and independent,
• Boys should possess super human ability, high energy level, and even violent behaviors are most times overlooked because “boys will always be boys,”
• Boys should work to always get to the status of being powerful and, dominant of a female,
• Boys must not accept nor feel any sense of shame and guilt,
• Boys should not express feelings of tenderness because “Real Boys”, and “Real Men”, should not feel anything and must no cry because that shows weakness,
• Boys should not communicate their emotional problems to girls or women.

The “be a man code” therefore, are unwritten rules that guides what and how every boy should learn to live by, if such boy is to be welcomed as a “real man” into the world of adult men.
