Advertising with sex as a dangling carrot, how young adults are influenced



                                                                    

In the modern day business setting, the urge by the industrious world to get employees has led to the creation of advertisements that are somewhat irrational. Consequently, the young adults who have been born in this era have been influenced in one way or the other to come out with perceptions that are inclined towards sexual attitudes and views. 

Sex in advertising is a pertinent issue and it greatly influences the way the young adults relate in their day to day life. The society is always influenced by the way it is set. This means that when an individual is put up amongst carnivores, then he or she is likely bound to become a carnivore. 

The same procedure applies to the issue of sex advertising and young adults. When a young adult is exposed to sexual advertising, he or she is bound to come out with ideas that are sexual and would influence his or her life. The term influence basically tries to give out the way an individual reacts or individuals react. 

Therefore, the young adults are coaxed by these advertisements to either perform sexual acts or rather involve themselves in sexual escapades. This is detrimental factor in the society. 

The other influence that the advertisements have is that they encourage the young people to watch pornography as they advertisements create sexual urges in them since they feel like they have to get more and more of the media.

The effects of these factors are wide and it leads to sexual assaults by the young individuals and also leads to the creation of a generation that is quite perverted.

Bunmi is an average youth who is attracted to the television just like any other child of his age. Through a research with Bunmi being one of the subjects, they found out that an individual is not affected for a short period but for a very long one.

The society is always changing and this means that the only ways and means is to come out with ideas that would help the media and young people like Bunmi change their attitudes. 

This means that, in order to help the young adults who are not affected, the first step is to change the ones that are already affected so that they can teach the others. Bunmi said that she sometimes experiences sleepless nights which in return affects her education as her sexual urge continues to grow stronger and stronger the more she watched the television.

There are however, numerous critics who say that the advertisements that are shown in the media are not the ones to blame for the negative influences and the rampant misbehaviours amongst the young people. 

They however argue that the society itself is portrayed through various ways including the dressing code, the way the nude media is easily available to the young children in the internet and for that reason, they argue that the society should deal with those areas first since they are more pressing than the sexual advertising in the media.

In conclusion, it is evident that the media and sexual advertisements play key roles in influencing the way young adults relate to each other in the society as the case study above shows. 

It is for this matter that the society should come out with ways and means of creating stiffer penalties and laws to govern the way the public media shows its programs and mostly advertising.
